Wine Tasting and Travel Talk
Several months ago we
started hosting at our office the "Thirsty Thursday Wine
Tasting and Travel Talk Evening". Every month we
feature a different variety of wine and discuss a travel
destination. Our event is usually held the 3rd Thursday of
every month from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at our office.
This
month the meet up will be December 17, 2009.
Local Food &
Toy Drive
You may or may not know that each
month we hold a wine and travel evening at our office.
Generally we ask that you either bring a bottle of wine or an
appetizer however for December we are going to do things a little
different. We want to support our local community and help those
less fortunate. We are going to support the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma & the children
in OK County Foster Care. I have worked it out where MLT Vacations,
Carnival Cruise Line, COOP Ale Works & Central Liquor will be
providing the food and drink. So, all you need to do is bring a food
item and or a toy for a child in foster care.
Many people are less fortunate than
us and will not have the joy of a Christmas Dinner or for that
matter know where their next meal will come from. So, this next week
when you are at the store, pick up a few things to help those who
can't afford to go to the store. Food items most needed by the
Regional Food Bank are canned meats, meat-based soups, canned
fruits, canned vegetables, peanut butter or canned beans. Please no
homemade or glass items.
Do you realize there are over 4,000
children in foster care in
Oklahoma
County alone? Even though
these children are in a home does not mean that they will have a
Christmas present. Many of the foster homes are like many of us
trying to make ends meet and can not afford to buy gifts for the
children they are fostering. Please open your hearts and put a smile
on a child's face this Christmas - let them know the great spirit of
Christmas. Toys for children of all ages and sex are needed. DHS has
asked that you spend about $10 or more on a nice new gift. So,
again, when you are out this Holiday season buying that gift for a
friend or loved one - put just one more in your shopping basket and
put the joy of Christmas in a child's heart.
So, please come to this very
special event on Thursday, Dec. 17th and share the joy of the
Holidays with new found friends. Everyone who brings in a toy or an
item for the food bank will be put in a drawing for some door
prizes. Come be merry, festive and let's share in the joy of doing
something wonderful for the community. Also, ask around your office
for donations. If you ask 10 people to bring a can good or a toy -
think how many toys and food we can get to help these wonderful
organizations. So, spread the word, talk to your neighbors, friends
and family - let's really make this a great Holiday season for those less fortunate!

If you are not able to make the
event but still want to donate – please bring your donations by our
office anytime Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm and on
Saturday from 9am to 1pm between now and Dec. 17th.
Thank you for helping us help our
community!
We hope that you can
plan on attending and inviting anyone else who may be interested in
trying new wines, learning about travel and meeting new people.
